This one-day, NZQA credited course provides essential food safety training required by district councils for hospitality businesses (cafes, restaurants, takeaways, aged care, childcare, etc.). It delivers NZQA Unit Standard 20666 (Level 2) basic knowledge of contamination hazards and control methods in a food business. Participants will learn about food-borne illnesses, contamination, hygiene practices, food waste minimization, and current food safety regulations including the Food Act 2014 and Food Control Plans. The course can be taken online (interactive, with live tutor) or on campus in Auckland. Graduates receive the NZSFW Food Safety Certificate and the standard is reported to NZQA.
