Produce a body of critically-engaged studio-based work in a specialised or interdisciplinary field of visual arts.

Construct a systematic academic proposal and complete a substantial research essay relevant to studio work.

Participate in critiques, seminars, and workshops, responding effectively to feedback and developing academic and creative perspectives.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Visual Arts at Otago Polytechnic is an intensive programme for graduates wanting a taster of postgraduate study in the visual arts. Learners create a body of critically-engaged studio work and complete research in an area of their choosing, including a 2000-word essay on research methodology. The programme provides access to well-equipped studio facilities, individual supervision, and a vibrant community of fellow artists. Completion allows progression to further postgraduate qualifications such as the Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Visual Arts.
