Core skills this course teaches

Expand visual perception and expression
Students will learn to perceive and represent the human figure, enhancing their awareness and ability to express what they see through their drawings.

Develop technical drawing skills
Participants will improve their technical proficiency and confidence in life drawing techniques.

Follow professional studio protocols
Students will practice respectful etiquette when working with live models and in a shared studio environment.
What You're Signing Up For
The Life Drawing Night Class provides learners with the opportunity to develop and refine their drawing skills through observational practice, focusing on the human figure as the subject. The course emphasises expanding perception and self-expression in drawing, aiming for growth in technique and confidence regardless of starting skill level. Students work from live (nude) models under the guidance of an experienced local artist and teacher in a professionally managed and supportive studio environment. Suitable for both beginners and experienced artists, the course takes place in the Life Drawing Room at the Dunedin School of Art.
