Core skills this course teaches

Qualify for teaching in primary/intermediate schools
Graduates will be provisionally-certified and prepared to teach in New Zealand primary and intermediate schools (Years 1-8).

Develop classroom management and relational skills
Students will learn to build strong relationships with diverse learners and create safe, inclusive, and vibrant learning environments.

Master curriculum and digital learning delivery
Ability to effectively teach core subjects such as literacy, maths, and the wider curriculum, including digital learning components.
What You're Signing Up For
This intensive programme enables those with an existing degree to qualify as a primary or intermediate school teacher in just one year. Combining on-campus or online study with extensive practicum placements, you’ll develop expertise in the New Zealand curriculum, digital learning, te reo Māori, and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. You will gain practical experience in primary and intermediate schools, basic te reo Māori proficiency, and a focus on diversity, digital learning, and equitable outcomes. Graduates become eligible for provisional teacher certification and benefit from strong employment prospects, strong employer connections, and higher salary entry points.
