What You're Signing Up For
This certificate provides education practitioners with the skills and knowledge to embed literacy and numeracy into the design, facilitation, assessment, and evaluation of adult learning in vocational and workplace settings. Graduates will be able to design and deliver learner-centred, culturally responsive programmes that improve adult education outcomes in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Course Content
- CVTT521 Learner centred practice (20 credits): Strategies to promote cultural diversity and literacy needs in adult education, learner-centred design and teaching activities, evaluation of learning and teaching strategies.
- ALNE500 Embedding literacy and numeracy (20 credits): Identifying demands, analysing learner needs, designing and implementing strategies for literacy and numeracy (reading, writing, numeracy skills) in vocational/workplace contexts.
What you need to know first
Applicants should be at least 16 years old.
Have attained NCEA Level 2 or a relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2 or above, or a recognised equivalent.
Access to adult learners (over 18 years) during programme duration for practical reflection and assessments.
Discretionary admission may be considered based on preparedness.
English language proficiency: IELTS 5.5 (no band <5) or equivalent, unless exempted by NCEA Level 3 University Entrance.
