The Bachelor of Education ([Specialty] Teaching) at AUT is designed to develop effective and responsive teachers for early childhood, primary, or intermediate education. The programme offers extensive teaching placements, specialist pathways in Early Childhood or Primary Teaching, and the opportunity to develop critical teaching skills and cultural competencies. Graduates emerge prepared for the challenges of a teaching career and equipped to positively impact future generations.

- 25 weeks of teaching placements
- Core courses in education, development, and communities in Aotearoa
- Courses in Te Reo Māori and Tikanga
- Specialty options: Early Childhood Teaching or Primary Teaching
- Early Childhood practicum courses (professional relationships, teacher identity, learning-focused culture)
- Primary practicum courses (professional relationships, teacher identity, learning-focused culture)
- Pacifica specialty courses (Tapasā: Working with Pacific Learners, Pacific Gagana and Aganu’u, Pacific Talanoa)
- Courses in curriculum integration, arts, PE, health, and wellbeing (for Primary Teaching)
- Courses in Te Whāriki, Mana Atua | Wellbeing, Mana Whenua | Belonging (for Early Childhood Teaching)

New Zealand University Entrance (UE)
Cannot use Discretionary Entrance for this programme
For international applicants: Academic entry requirements as per country of origin
Teaching Council compliance: literacy and numeracy assessments, interview, good character and fitness, ITE Programme Entry Form, Police vetting (NZ and/or overseas), satisfactory references
English language competency as set by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa
Safety check as set out in section 31 of the Children’s Act 2014
