Deliver safe and effective exercise programmes
Deliver exercise programmes tailored to individuals, using pre-screening and working within industry codes and scope of practice.

Apply anatomy and physiology knowledge
Adapt exercise programmes using knowledge of human anatomy and physiology for apparently healthy people and common at-risk groups.

Exercise science and testing
Utilise exercise science and fitness testing to create and adapt programmes for a range of individuals.
What You're Signing Up For
This entry-level certificate equips students to create and deliver exercise programmes within a health and wellness framework. The programme is industry-recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and provides practical learning, including work experience. Graduates will have the skills to operate as exercise professionals, adapting programmes for healthy and at-risk groups, and supporting health and wellness in the community.

What you need to know first
40 credits at NCEA Level 1 or above, including 10 Literacy credits and 10 Numeracy credits
New Zealand Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Multi-sector) (Level 3)
A relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2
A recognised equivalent
Special admission for applicants 20+ years without usual requirements
Discretionary admission possible for applicants under 20 not meeting standard requirements
Proof of English proficiency (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent) for non-native English speakers
Police vetting may be required for certain industry/community partner activities
