What You're Signing Up For

The Graduate Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science gives graduates from an allied health, physical education, or related background the advanced knowledge, specialist skills, and professional experience to develop a career in sport and exercise science. The programme offers elective modules in strength and conditioning or clinical exercise science (REPS accredited), and incorporates work-based learning and applied research. Graduates will be prepared for roles as exercise consultants, therapists, or rehabilitation coaches, or for progression into postgraduate study.

  • Compulsory module: Research Topics in Sport and Exercise
  • Elective modules (examples): Exercise Programming and Design, Lifestyle, Nutrition and Health, Exercise Physiology, Advanced Programming and Design, Assessment and Rehabilitation of Injury, Advanced Sport Coaching, Physiological Preparation for Sport, Clinical Exercise Physiology, Scientific Principles of Strength and Conditioning, Practicum, and other approved modules
  • Strength and conditioning pathway
  • Clinical exercise science pathway (REPS accredited)
  • Work placement and practical experience

What you need to know first

Bachelor's degree (three-year) in allied health or physical education (NZ or approved overseas qualification)

Or, demonstrable equivalent practical, professional, or educational experience

Completion of selection interview, safety checks (including police vetting, referee check, risk assessment) as per Vulnerable Children’s Act

Submission of supporting qualification evidence/transcript
