What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Diploma in Outdoor and Adventure Education (Level 5) at Wintec is a one-year programme designed to train graduates for careers in the outdoor adventure industry. Students will develop skills in outdoor leadership, safety management, technical skills in a range of outdoor pursuits (such as mountaineering, rock climbing, and abseiling), cultural and environmental awareness, and real-world workplace experience. Learning features both classroom and online components with significant hands-on fieldwork. Graduates will be prepared to guide, instruct, or support outdoor activities and contribute to the wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand.

What you need to know first
Certificate in Outdoor Adventure Education (Level 4)
Relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification or equivalent
Equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience (discretionary entrance)
Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (or obtain within 3 months of starting)
Sufficient level of fitness for practical requirements
English language: IELTS 5.5 academic (no band below 5.0) or equivalent (for non-native English speakers)
