Apply Science to Exercise
Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology to adapt and deliver exercise programmes for healthy and common at-risk populations using exercise science and testing.

Motivational and Communication Skills
Use motivational and communication techniques to enhance commitment to personalised exercise programmes.
What You're Signing Up For
The New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4) at Wintec prepares you to deliver safe and effective exercise programmes to others as a personal trainer or exercise consultant. The programme blends theory and practical experience, including a 20-hour work placement in a gym, and covers anatomy, physiology, exercise adaptation, health and wellness frameworks, nutrition, motivational strategies, and business skills for exercise professionals. Graduates are ready for industry practice and eligible to register with the New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals.

What you need to know first
40 credits at NCEA Level 2, including 10 literacy credits at Level 2 and 10 numeracy credits at Level 1, or recognised equivalent
Relevant qualification at NZQF Level 2
Discretionary entrance on approval by relevant manager with evidence of likelihood of success
First aid certificate (covering NZQA units 6401 and 6402) held or in progress during enrolment
Police vetting may be required (Vulnerable Children Act 2014 compliance)
IELTS 5.5 or equivalent if English is a second language
