What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in Exercise at UCOL offers knowledge and practical skills to design and deliver fitness programmes for the general population, including those with health risks. The programme includes human anatomy and physiology, exercise programming, nutrition and lifestyle, and professional practice. It runs for 19 weeks including practicum hours working with clients, providing graduates eligibility to register as Personal Trainer Contractors with the New Zealand Register of Exercise Professionals. Entry requires NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, and international students must meet English proficiency standards. Students gain hands-on experience and prepare for careers as personal trainers, exercise consultants, or community exercise instructors with pathways to further study in applied sciences.

40 credits of NCEA Level 2 or above including 10 Literacy and Numeracy credits or equivalent academic achievement
