Plan and prepare mountain biking activities
Graduates learn how to plan and prepare mountain bike sessions tailored to group needs and environmental conditions.

Lead and evaluate mountain biking activities
Learners develop the skills to lead groups safely on Grade 2-4 trails and evaluate the effectiveness of their leadership.

Guide participants through back country terrain
Level 5 (Guiding) graduates can guide mountain bike activities in more advanced, back country settings, including longer and higher grade trails.
What You're Signing Up For
The Outdoor Leadership activity: Mountain Biking course is intended for people working or volunteering in outdoor recreation who wish to enhance their mountain biking leadership abilities. The course covers leadership, guiding, and instruction of mountain bike activities, with practical workplace assessments and online components. Available at NZQA Levels 4 and 5 (for both guiding and instruction), it enables graduates to plan, prepare, lead, guide, and instruct mountain biking activities at a range of skill levels and environments, from front country to back country terrain.

- Fundamentals module (must be completed at each level)
- Mountain biking activity leadership
- Planning and preparation for mountain biking trips

- Risk management and safety in mountain biking
- Personal and group riding skill assessment
