What You're Signing Up For
This one-year Level 5 diploma at NMIT provides foundational knowledge and skills for employment or further study in sport, recreation, and exercise. The programme goes beyond playing sports, focusing on the theory and practical application of health, nutrition, exercise science, anatomy and physiology, planning, coaching and motivating people. Extensive practical experience is included, using both onsite and community-based exercise facilities. Graduates are prepared for a range of careers in the sport and recreation industries or pathway to higher-level study, including Level 6 and Bachelor qualifications.

What you need to know first
Applicants under 20 years: 48 credits NCEA Level 2 across 4 subjects or equivalent.
Applicants 20 years and over: No academic qualifications necessary, but evidence of ability to succeed may be required.
English: IELTS academic score of 6.0 (or equivalent) if English is not a first language.
All: Risk Management Contract sign-off, Police Vetting, External Referee Check, declaration regarding convictions.
All: Selection interview and/or referee reports may be required.
All: Must complete NMIT Application/Enrolment form and supporting documents.
