What You're Signing Up For

This practically-based 17-week programme at Level 4 provides knowledge and skills for employment in the health and fitness industry or further study in sport, recreation and exercise science. The course focuses on designing, delivering and adapting exercise programmes, including for groups at risk of common health conditions. Graduates are recognized as personal trainers by the Register of Exercise Professionals and may find work in roles such as exercise consultant, community or team exercise instructor. The course covers core topics like anatomy, physiology, exercise technique, first aid, health and safety, business skills, and more.

What you need to know first

NZ Certificate in Sport, Recreation and Exercise (Level 3); or

Meet NCEA Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy requirements; or

Provide evidence of achievement at an equivalent level

Police Vetting Service Request and Consent form signed

Declaration of good health

Acceptable level of English language fluency, e.g., IELTS 5.5 (no band <5.0) or equivalent
