The Master of Sport, Exercise and Health at AUT enables students to advance their knowledge of the sport industry and conduct research in sport, exercise, and health. The program offers flexible pathways—including specialisations such as coaching, athlete development, physical activity and nutrition, sport data analytics, sport leadership and management, outdoor learning, and strength and conditioning. Students undertake a substantial research project (dissertation or thesis) guided by leading sport and recreation staff, with the choice to study on campus or online (for most specialisations). The program includes a strong emphasis on mātauranga Māori and provides opportunities for industry engagement, advanced practical skill development, and research expertise.
