What You're Signing Up For

This one-year Level 4 certificate equips students to work in support roles across the social and community services sector, including mental health, addiction, whānau, and community support. Students complete core modules and select between strands focusing on either Mental Health and Addiction or Whānau, Community, and Social Services. In addition to theoretical learning, students complete a 200-hour practicum and gain hands-on experience. Graduates are prepared for a range of support roles or further study in health and wellbeing fields.

What you need to know first

40 credits at NCEA Level 1 (including 10 literacy and 10 numeracy credits) or equivalent

A relevant NZQF Level 3 course or equivalent

Relevant knowledge, skills and experience from work may be considered

Discretionary entrance based on evidence of ability to succeed

Police vetting, criminal conviction and safety checks as per regulations

Online cohort: must be working 12+ hours/week in a health or wellbeing organisation

Academic IELTS 5.5 (no band under 5.0) or equivalent for non-native English speakers
