The New Zealand Diploma in Whānau Ora (Level 5) is designed for those passionate about supporting whānau to thrive. The diploma focusses on foundational knowledge of wellbeing, bicultural social work concepts, and reflective practice. It is ideal for current and aspiring professionals in social services and community roles who wish to build capability in whānau-centred approaches. Core principles include whanaungatanga, kaitiakitanga, te tika me te pono, manaakitanga, rangatiratanga, and ngā pūkenga. Delivered through blended learning with one on-campus workshop per week, students will gain theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and the support of kaiako.

If under 20: University Entrance OR NCEA Level 3 (14 credits in 3 subjects, 10 Level 2 literacy, 10 Level 1 numeracy) OR evidence of academic ability
If 20 or over: Demonstrated academic ability at NZQA Level 4 or equivalent, with work and life experience
Signed consent for criminal conviction check; may require interview if convictions exist
Two character references from non-family trustworthy persons
