What You're Signing Up For
Offered by Moana House Training Institute, this programme is designed for those already working in mental health and addictions sectors. It provides specialized technical knowledge and skills for providing treatment to people seeking help with gambling, alcohol and drug problems. The diploma promotes personal growth alongside professional development. It includes courses in counselling, pharmacology, cultural considerations, diagnostic systems, case management, and practical application. The qualification is recognized by DAPAANZ and includes mandatory clinical placement of 400 supervised hours over two years. The programme is delivered part-time over 2 years with blended learning and requires arranging clinical placement. Scholarships and student loans may be available; fees are pending. Not open to international students.

What you need to know first
No formal academic requirements, but Level 5 or above is expected
Must be working or have access to work in mental health/addictions sector
Must arrange 400 supervised clinical practice hours
Basic computer skills, internet access, and computer access
At least two years in recovery from any substance/process addictions or offending
Consent to Police Check
Financial means or scholarship to cover fees
