The Bachelor of Social Work at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology is a Level 7 qualification offering a comprehensive education and practical training in social work. The programme prepares students for provisional registration as beginning practitioners and employment in various social service sectors. It provides core academic coursework complemented by supervised field placement, developing flexible skills to work collaboratively in complex social and health environments. Students study a broad curriculum covering social policy, professional practice, human development, psychology, social research, and specialist social work fields. The course structure includes two semesters per year over four years full time, with part-time options available. Graduates can pursue careers in statutory organisations, healthcare, community service, advocacy, and social justice sectors.

University Entrance: NCEA Level 3 (including 14 credits in each of three approved subjects)
