What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work (Level 4) aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to be qualified for intermediate roles in the youth work sector. The program covers key aspects such as youth development, professional practice, and supporting young people in diverse community environments. Blended learning, self-directed study, and workplace practicum form core components of the delivery, supporting employment pathways in youth work and related fields.

  • Mentoring and support for youth potential
  • Strengths-based leadership of youth projects
  • Reflective practice and self-care strategies
  • Understanding and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi

What you need to know first

Prior successful study to a minimum of level 3 on NZQA framework or equivalent

Disclosure of any criminal convictions at enrolment

Approval for release of criminal conviction information from NZ Police

Ability to work or volunteer in a Youth Work setting

Assessment by AGI of suitability to work in Youth Work sector

Access to a computer and internet

Recommended: Current First Aid Certificate

Enrolment provisional pending vetting and placement
