What You're Signing Up For
The Diploma in Health & Wellbeing (Applied Practice - Youth Work) at AGI Education is designed to prepare advanced support workers for the youth work sector in New Zealand. The programme blends operational and theoretical knowledge with 200 hours of workplace practicum, enabling graduates to work independently or under supervision. The curriculum covers core youth development philosophy, evidence-based support approaches, te ao Māori, and the socio-cultural factors affecting wellbeing. Graduates are prepared for roles in health, social and community settings, and may progress to further study.

- Supporting health and wellbeing practice through theories, models and approaches
- Health and wellbeing support competencies
- Application of evidence-based practice
- Socio-cultural, economic and political factors within the NZ health and wellbeing environment for youth
- Te Ao Māori: supporting health and wellbeing aspirations of tangata whenua
- Responding to youth from diverse contexts
- Critical evaluation and improvement of own youth development support practice
What you need to know first
Applicants must be 18 years or older.
Hold a Youth Work or Health & Wellbeing Level 4 qualification OR provide evidence of successful study at Level 3 and at least 12 months professional experience in a health and wellbeing context.
Disclosure and approval for release of criminal conviction information from NZ Police.
Able to work or undertake voluntary work in a Youth Work setting.
Suitability assessment by AGI Education.
Access to a computer and the internet.
Special admission may be granted to applicants 20+ with at least 18 months health and wellbeing sector experience and two workplace referee endorsements.
