This course is designed to prepare students for further tertiary studies or employment by developing learning confidence and essential skills. It covers successful study techniques, communication, and foundational knowledge relevant to a range of diplomas or degrees in fields such as teaching, social work, business, environmental management, and more. Students will gain all the support they need to confidently take the next step towards their study or career goals.

- Skills for Successful Tertiary Study
- Building Communication Competence
- Introduction to the Biophysical Basis of Health (recommended for Bachelor of Nursing)
- Human Development across the Lifespan (recommended for Bachelor of Nursing)
What you need to know first
A minimum of 40 credits at NCEA Level 2 across four subjects, including:
10 credits in Literacy at Level 2 or above (5 in reading, 5 in writing)
10 credits in Numeracy at Level 1 or above (specified achievement/unit standards, or all three numeracy unit standards: 26623, 26626, 26627)
Or by interview with the Programme Manager
No minimum academic requirements for applicants aged 20 years and over
