This programme provides an introduction to tertiary study, focusing on developing essential reading, writing, maths, and computing skills. Students also gain hands-on experience through community involvement, volunteering, and practical learning. The course supports learners in exploring career options, reflecting on personal strengths, and setting goals for future pathways. Suitable for those wanting to return to education or try polytechnic study for the first time. Flexible delivery, with both full-time and part-time options available. Youth Guarantee Scheme applicants may study with no fees.

- Essential Skills (Tuapapa): Communication and interpersonal skills for community, workplace, and education.
- Self (Rapu Ora): Self-awareness, cultural awareness, goal setting, personal wellbeing.
- Project (Rapu Mahi): Research skills for employment, evaluation and reflection on skills learned, career planning.
- Active Learning 1 (Rapu Pukengataka 1): Application of self-awareness and essential skills in familiar contexts, effective interaction with a variety of people.
- Orientation activities in the first week.
- Community work, volunteering, or practical learning/work placements.
