What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) (Level 4) is the minimum qualification required to become a licensed Real Estate professional in New Zealand. This program, taught fully online and part-time over 22 weeks, covers the legal, ethical, and professional framework of the real estate industry, key sales and marketing techniques, and the necessary written and oral communication skills needed by real estate salespeople. Successful completion enables graduates to apply for a New Zealand real estate salesperson license.

  • Fundamentals of Real Estate: Legislation and codes of conduct
  • Land ownership in relation to real estate practice
  • Law for Real Estate Licensees: Resource management and building law basics
  • Contract law, agency, and land ownership titles for practice
  • Real Estate Sales and Marketing: Developing positioning strategies and marketing plans
  • Appraisal and listing processes
  • Agreements for Sale and Purchase: requirements and responsibilities
  • Written and oral communication skills

What you need to know first

Hold 40 credits at NCEA Level 1 (including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits) OR a relevant NZQF Level 2 qualification or equivalent.

Proficient communication skills to meet industry requirements.

Ability to understand and use Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

Access to reliable computer, high-speed internet, webcam, headset with microphone, and specific software requirements.
