What You're Signing Up For

The Stay Well to Stay Strong Microcredential (Level 3) is designed for those passionate about improving the wellness of their community. This 20-week programme teaches students to raise awareness about the risk of type 2 diabetes, work with community members to identify and reduce diabetes risks, and serve as a health literacy coach. The course develops skills relevant for further study in community, health, and wellbeing areas.

  • Factors affecting diabetes risk in New Zealand communities
  • Progression and complications of diabetes
  • Performing and understanding diabetes consultations
  • Community engagement on prediabetes and type 2 diabetes
  • Health literacy coaching skills

What you need to know first

NCEA Level 1 (including Literacy 10 credits and Numeracy 10 credits at Level 1) OR equivalent academic achievement OR at the discretion of the Executive Dean.

Declare any previous criminal convictions before admission (decision at Academic Leader's discretion).

Consent to a New Zealand Police background check.

Complete a health declaration form.

Provide certified copies of all relevant documentation.
