Learn strategies for fostering resilience in communities and organisations faced with disasters, with attention to social and cultural appropriateness.

The Master of Disaster Risk Management and Development gives students advanced knowledge to reduce disaster risks, build community resilience, and manage disaster responses. The programme interweaves themes of sustainable development, environmental change, communications, and culturally appropriate approaches to disaster risk management. It suits those passionate about humanitarian response, sustainable development, or already working in the field and seeking a tertiary qualification. The flexible learning approach combines on-campus block courses and online study, culminating in either a thesis, dissertation, or practice project.

Evidence of ability to study at postgraduate level
Evidence of current professional practice might be required
Completion of relevant prerequisite courses as specified by the Board of Studies (if applicable)
English language proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall, with no band less than 6.0
Positions in disaster preparedness, humanitarian response or recovery for local or international NGOs
Roles in emergency management agencies
Work in governmental ministries
