What You're Signing Up For
This three-year degree develops your scientific and practical expertise in human nutrition. Areas of study include metabolic processes, nutritional application for communities, non-communicable diseases, communication of nutritional science, and influences on eating behavior such as culture and psychology. Work placements provide real-world experience for various professional nutrition roles. Graduates are prepared for consulting, health promotion, research, and public health careers, or postgraduate study in related fields.

What you need to know first
New Zealand University Entrance: NCEA Level 3 with 60 credits at Level 3 and 20 credits at Level 2 or higher, including 14 credits at Level 3 in Biology or Human Biology or Physical Education, 14 credits in another approved subject (preferably Core Health/Health Education, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Psychology) and minimum 14 credits in Chemistry at Level 2 for Human Nutrition specialisation.
Literacy: 10 credits at Level 2 or above (5 in reading, 5 in writing).
Numeracy: 10 credits at Level 1 or above.
OR New Zealand Certificate in Exercise (Level 4)
OR New Zealand Certificate in Study and Career Preparation (Level 4) Ara Pre Health Pathway or equivalent.
Alternative entry possible with evidence of equivalent skills from study, work or life experience.
Two referee reports (not from friends or relatives)
Consent to Disclosure of Information (NZ Police Vetting as required for placements)
