What You're Signing Up For

The Maritime Crewing - STCW Able Seafarer Deck programme is a 16-week, 60-credit qualification for experienced deck and engine room crew aiming to move into able seafarer positions. The training delivers core and strand-specific maritime skills, combining classroom theory and scenario-based, hands-on learning. Graduates will have the skills required for STCW certification and can pursue MNZ national licences, qualifying them for crewing duties on vessels in unlimited waters.

What you need to know first

STCW Deck Watch Rating (for Deck Crewing strand)

or STCW Engine Watch Rating (for Engineering strand)

Medical Certificate (General Practitioner, Seafarers Medical Certificate or equivalent) for fire and survival training

Physically fit and able to participate in practical training

Sufficient English to study at Level 4 (IELTS 5.5 with no band below 5.0 or equivalent for non-native speakers)
