Graduates will be able to conduct comprehensive health assessments that consider both mental and physical health across a variety of settings.

Develop bi-cultural plans of care
Students learn to synthesize health assessment findings into a plan of care developed in partnership with clients, grounded in bi-cultural principles.

Knowledge of physiological systems and disease states
Graduates have in-depth knowledge of physiological systems, the relationship between disease states and altered functioning, and can integrate these into clinical practice.
What You're Signing Up For
The Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Waikato prepares you for a career as a registered nurse through a three-year, full-time program. Delivered in partnership with local healthcare providers, the program features a blend of academic coursework and hands-on clinical experience, with a specific focus on Māori and Pacific health, equity, and wellbeing. Students benefit from innovative teaching, a strong foundation in health assessment, pharmacology, and health science, and gain clinical practice placements across the Waikato and Midland region. Graduates are equipped to provide high-quality care for diverse populations and are eligible to register as nurses in New Zealand.

All applicants must complete a selection process including provision of a personal statement, referee checks, and a criminal record check.
Meet University of Waikato undergraduate admission requirements.
Health Clearance Form signed by a GP (immunisation standards).
Current Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (free course provided at program start).
