What You're Signing Up For
The Bachelor of Nursing is a highly-regarded degree designed to prepare students for a rewarding career as Registered Nurses in New Zealand and overseas. The programme includes nursing practice, human behaviour, pharmacology, and human body systems coursework, combined with at least 50% clinical practice placements. Graduates are eligible to sit the State Final Examination for registration. The programme is offered full-time (3 years) or part-time (5 years) for domestic students and full-time internationally, delivered mostly on campus in Dunedin with some online elements to provide flexibility. Entry requires NCEA Level 3 or equivalent science and English qualifications, referees, health and criminal checks. Fees are approximately NZD $8,951 for first-year domestic students and NZD $25,100 for international students. Additional costs include textbooks, uniforms, equipment, immunisation tests, and travel/accommodation for clinical placements. The course is intensive, with an estimated 40 hours per week study load. There is opportunity for further postgraduate study pathways to specialisations or Nurse Practitioner roles.
