What You're Signing Up For
This Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways (Nursing Studies) provides students with essential tertiary study skills, numeracy, communication, and practical nursing-related projects designed to prepare for nursing and health study pathways. The program includes hands-on learning in clinical suites, literacy and numeracy testing for entry, and recognition of prior learning options. Graduates are ready to advance to nursing diplomas and degrees. It supports diverse learners including Māori and Pasifika students and offers a supportive, practical learning environment focused on improving confidence and independence.
Course Content
- Skills for successful tertiary study (15 credits) - preparation for tertiary nursing studies
- Project pathway A (15 credits) - application of skills and knowledge in science and communication contexts for nursing and health
- Project pathways B (15 credits) - application of numeracy and communication skills for nursing and health
- Building communication competence (15 credits) - effective communication strategies for learning and future nursing and health careers
What you need to know first
Applicants must undertake literacy and numeracy testing with a required minimum score of 70%.
International students must meet English language requirements as per NZQF Programme and Accreditation Rules.
Special and discretionary admission available for applicants not meeting general requirements but who demonstrate preparedness.
