What You're Signing Up For

The Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5) at Healthcare Academy of New Zealand is an 18-month, NZQA-approved qualification designed to prepare students for entry-level nursing practice. The programme focuses on providing safe, competent, and culturally responsive care. Students will gain more than 900 hours of clinical and simulation-based training, develop skills for a variety of healthcare settings (hospitals, aged care, mental health, community), and learn to work as part of a healthcare team. Culturally safe practice, Hauora Māori models, and the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi are integral, preparing graduates to sit the State Final Examination for Enrolled Nurse registration.

What you need to know first

NCEA Level 2 (minimum 80 credits with specified subject credits in English and Mathematics)

Evidence of successful study at NZQA Level 4 or above within five years (alternative to NCEA)

Academic IELTS score of 6.5 with no band lower than 6.5, or equivalent

Current First Aid Certificate

Health screening and up-to-date vaccinations (may be required for clinical placements)

Two character references

Clear NZ Police Vetting result

Completed Medical Declaration
