Te Ara Pūtake New Zealand Certificate in Study and Employment Pathways helps students build essential skills, knowledge, and confidence for tertiary education or employment. The programme features core academic and communication modules as well as specialisations in health, social services, creative industries, or early childhood. Students benefit from supportive teaching, flexible delivery, and direct progression opportunities to Wintec diplomas and degrees or entry into diverse employment sectors.
Course Content
- Core modules: Whai Whakaaro: Steps to success, Whakawhitiwhiti Kōrero: Communications
- Pathway specialisation (choose one):
- Health Pathway: Anatomy and physiology, wellness, human development, hauora and human body function
- Early Childhood Pathway: Early childhood education foundation, directed project
- Social Service Pathway: Introduction to social services, values, beliefs, social issues, career opportunities
- Creative Industries Pathway: Creative project, creative practice, design, communication, art, media tools and technology, project showcase
- Self-directed learning and preparation for assessments
- Workshops, labs (in health stream), online support
What you need to know first
40 credits at NCEA Level 2 including 10 literacy credits at NCEA Level 2 and 10 numeracy credits at NCEA Level 1; or recognised equivalent
Or a relevant course at NZQF Level 3 or equivalent
Discretionary entrance available for applicants who demonstrate potential for success
Interview may be required
IELTS 5.5 (with no band lower than 5.0) or equivalent for non-native speakers
