What You're Signing Up For

The Waikato Certificate is a one-year, 120-point programme that serves as an introduction to university-level study and offers a strong foundation in your selected field. It can be tailored to various disciplines including arts, business, education, sciences, and more. The certificate is designed to enhance employability, personal growth, and can be credited toward a bachelor's degree. Study involves a combination of compulsory, field-specific, and elective 100-level (or above) papers. The programme is offered with starts in March and July.

Course Content

  • 120 points of study (eight papers) at 100 level or above
  • At least 90 points in a single field of study (chosen from Arts, Business, Science, Education, Health, Law, Management, etc.)
  • Compulsory Business field paper (for business stream—such as Introduction to Management)
  • Recommended Business Fundamentals papers (for business stream): ACCTN101 Accounting for Management, ECONS101 Economics for Business and Management, FINAN101 Introduction to Finance, MGSYS101 Digital Business and Supply Chain Management, MRKTG101 Fundamentals of Successful Marketing
  • Elective papers (any subject, 100 level or above)
  • Flexible selection across multiple schools (School of Arts, Science, Law, etc.)
