The Tertiary Foundation Certificate (TFC) is a one-year programme that prepares students for undergraduate study at the University of Auckland. It provides core courses in literacy and mathematics and a range of electives in arts, business, education, and science. Graduates gain a nationally recognised qualification for university entrance and have access to support services, facilities, and clubs on campus. Successful completion can guarantee entry to direct-entry undergraduate degrees depending on subjects and grades. The programme strongly supports students from groups under-represented in tertiary education and is offered at multiple Auckland campuses.
