What You're Signing Up For

The Diploma in Science (DipSc) at the University of Otago is designed for domestic and international students who almost meet university entrance standards. This full-time, one-year programme provides foundational study across science fields, English language, academic and cultural skills, and mathematics, preparing graduates to enter the second year of the Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree. Students select science subjects aligned with their intended major and benefit from a highly supported learning environment.

What you need to know first

At least 16 years old by start of classes

Very close to meeting New Zealand University Entrance or equivalent (domestic or international secondary study)

For international students: IELTS overall band score of 5.5 (no band less than 5.0) or equivalent, completion of final year of high school, minimum B- across three relevant subjects

Admission subject to Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Sciences) approval
