What You're Signing Up For
The Bachelor of Communication at Wintec equips students with skills in storytelling, digital marketing, media production, and campaign management. It combines theory with extensive practical learning including work-integrated projects, internships, and industry engagement. The programme offers specialisations in Creative Media or Digital Marketing, allowing further skills development in line with students' interests and career aspirations. Graduates develop strong communication, creative and analytical skills alongside a professional network and portfolio.
Course Content
- Core communication modules (writing, multimedia storytelling, digital marketing, campaign delivery)
- Critical Methods (critical thinking in communication, art practice in social/cultural contexts)
- Professional Practice (industry experience, internships, career development)
- Creative Media specialisation (media production, creative research, photography, video production)
- Digital Marketing specialisation (social media, brand strategy, campaign management, analytics)
- Project-based learning and client-based assignments
- Collaboration with other creative disciplines
- Range of electives (graphic design, photography, sound, web publishing, advertising, journalism, visual communication, performing arts)
- Option to complete NZ Diploma of Journalism concurrently
What you need to know first
NCEA Level 3 with 60 credits at Level 3 or above and 20 credits at Level 2 or above, including 14 credits in three approved subjects (including a Language Rich subject), Literacy (10 credits at Level 2 or above), and Numeracy (10 credits at Level 1 or above); or
A relevant NZQA Level 4 qualification; or
Equivalent qualifications or experience may be considered.
Special admission possible for applicants 20+ with appropriate experience at the discretion of the Head of School or nominee.
