What You're Signing Up For

This apprenticeship programme is designed for those passionate about cars and light vehicles, aiming to develop highly sought-after skills in automotive engineering. Students will learn to diagnose, service, and repair vehicles, working with the latest automotive technologies. The course includes extensive practical workshop experience and asynchronous online assignments. Throughout the apprenticeship, learners are mentored by tutors and are expected to be employed within the industry. Upon completion, graduates will hold the New Zealand Certificate in Light Automotive Engineering (Level 4), making them eligible for skilled roles in the automotive and mechanical sectors.

What you need to know first

Hold a Level 3 qualification in Automotive Engineering; OR

Have evidence of equivalent skills and knowledge.

Must be employed in a light automotive engineering workshop operating at commercially acceptable industry standard (training agreement required).

Recommended to have a current first aid certificate before the course and a Class 1 licence before completion.
