What You're Signing Up For

This course is designed for people with very basic or no welding skills, or those seeking to improve their welding abilities. It provides hands-on experience with MMAW (Manual Metal Arc Welding), GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) techniques. The course does not cover aluminium welding and runs in conjunction with the NZS2980 course. Equipment such as overalls, safety boots, and safety glasses are required. The course is run on-campus in Invercargill.

  • Introduction to MMAW (Manual Metal Arc Welding)
  • Introduction to GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
  • Introduction to GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding)
  • Hands-on welding practice (excluding aluminium welding)
  • Workshop safety and personal protective equipment

Bring passport or birth certificate if not previously enrolled at SIT
