What You're Signing Up For
This programme enables you to focus on engineering fabrication in the steel construction industry. You’ll learn to interpret specifications and drawings, select suitable materials, use fabrication tools and equipment, and apply welding techniques to an industry standard. The course is designed for individuals employed in the mechanical engineering industry, often completed as part of an apprenticeship. Graduates are equipped for greater responsibility in engineering and manufacturing firms.

What you need to know first
40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy and 10 numeracy credits OR New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Level 3)
Employment in the mechanical engineering industry at the time of study
3-way training agreement between candidate, employer and Ara
