What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Rumaki Reo Rua) (Level 3) helps learners build a solid foundation in te reo Māori, focusing on intermediate-level language use across different environments, such as family, community, marae, workplace, and academic settings. The programme is delivered primarily in English and includes four compulsory modules focusing on key aspects of communication in te reo Māori.

Course Content

  • Mana Tangata Toru: Intermediate grammatical structures, vocabulary, and speech patterns.
  • Mana Whenua Toru: Describing features of others' kainga tipu using te reo Māori vocabulary and grammar.
  • Mana Reo Toru: Discussing familiar topics, asking/responding to questions, exchanging ideas, and comprehension of medium-length texts.
  • Mana Ao Tūroa Toru: Describing and discussing everyday events using intermediate te reo, including phrases and vocabulary related to hapū or hapori kaupapa.

Suitable for school leavers.

Recommended: NCEA Level 1-3 Reo Māori.
