What You're Signing Up For
The UCOL Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 4), New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo (Bilingual) (Level 4), is designed for learners with intermediate skills in te reo Māori who wish to grow their language knowledge and communication ability. Develop vocabulary, grammar, oral and written skills, and gain confidence using te reo Māori in whānau, social, marae, workplace, and academic situations. The programme includes both in-class and self-directed learning, with cultural immersion through noho marae and a strong focus on real-world application.

- Advanced intermediate-level te reo Māori vocabulary and grammar
- Summarising and presenting familiar information
- Evaluating and responding to ideas in te reo Māori
- Sustaining a point of view in familiar and unfamiliar contexts
- Using te reo Māori for practical purposes in workplace and academic situations
- Synthesising and evaluating arguments in Māori language
- Noho marae (cultural immersion stays) and regional language understanding
What you need to know first
Te Reo Rangatira at NCEA Level 2, OR
Te Pōkaitahi Reo (Reo Rua) (Te Kaupae 3) or equivalent, OR
Oral and face-to-face assessment with programme lecturer/programme leader
English language proficiency: IELTS overall band score (academic) of 5.5 with no band score less than 5 (or equivalent including TOEFL)
