What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in Te Reo Māori (Immersion) Level 6 through NMIT (now part of Te Pūkenga) equips learners with the skills to confidently use Te Reo Māori in various contexts including whānau, marae, professional, and educational environments. The programme develops proficiency for effective verbal communication, expression of ideas and concepts, technical language research skills, and supports participation in tikanga and te reo Māori development. Delivery includes a blend of in-person noho, immersion talks, online work, and cultural activities. The qualification supports career pathways in the Māori language sector and community roles, reinforcing leadership and connectivity within iwi and hapori. Academic and English proficiency entry requirements apply and alternative entry via Recognition of Prior Learning is available.
