What You're Signing Up For

The New Zealand Certificate in English Language (General) (Level 3) helps you develop intermediate English language skills for use in the workplace or for further study. You'll learn to communicate more confidently, understand and participate in conversations, read various texts, and write accurately. The qualification is recognised by employers and educational institutions in New Zealand and prepares you for positions requiring face-to-face communication and basic record-keeping, or for progression to a higher level of English study.

Course Content

  • General reading and writing 1: understanding and producing texts on familiar topics.
  • General reading and writing 2: reading and writing on reasonably familiar topics.
  • General speaking and listening 1: understanding main ideas in oral texts, participating in spoken interactions.
  • General speaking and listening 2: understanding and participating in oral texts and interactions on reasonably familiar topics.

What you need to know first

New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 2); or

IELTS (Academic) overall band score of 4.5; or

A level comparable to CEFR mid B1.
