What You're Signing Up For
This qualification is intended for learners who want to use English for general purposes or to gain entry into Level 4 certificates. The programme develops language skills and knowledge needed to participate in further study in New Zealand tertiary education contexts. It also includes building interpersonal and intercultural skills to work and live in New Zealand's multicultural environment. The qualification is recognised by the community, employers, and educational institutions as a measure of English language proficiency for general or academic purposes.
Course Content
- 843.325 Academic reading and writing skills (15 credits): Read and understand moderately complex texts independently; write coherent texts under test conditions.
- 843.326 Applied academic reading and writing (15 credits): Read and write clear, connected texts in academic contexts.
- 844.331 Notetaking and presentations (15 credits): Understand main points and details in moderately complex spoken monologues; participate in spoken discourse on familiar academic topics.
- 844.332 Academic discussions (15 credits): Understand and take part in moderately complex spoken interactions in academic contexts.
What you need to know first
NZCEL Level 3 General or Academic or equivalent
IELTS score of 5.0 with no score below 4.5 or equivalent
CEFR score of high B1
New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency or Certificate of Refugee Status or appropriate visa
