The Graduate Certificate in Health (GradCertHlth) at UC is a short, flexible programme designed for professionals wanting to expand their health knowledge within a short timeframe. Suitable for people entering the health sector or seeking to build targeted expertise, the certificate covers core health concepts, ethics, digital health communication, and cultural safety. Graduates gain skills applicable to a variety of employment or postgraduate pathways in health.

Course Content

  • Core health concepts, principles, and policy
  • Professional, ethical, and reflective health practices
  • Culturally safe practice, especially with Māori and Pacific communities
  • Digital communication and health information technologies
  • One compulsory introductory health course
  • 45 points of advanced electives from topics such as evidence in health, Māori health knowledge, human nutrition, health planning, mental health and addictions, cell biology, environmental health, research methods, psychology (forensic, health, industrial/organisational, developmental, etc.), applied exercise physiology, performance nutrition, and more

What you need to know first

Bachelor’s degree in Aotearoa (or equivalent); or

At least 5 years of relevant work experience in a health-related area

English language requirements for non-native speakers
