This online micro-credential teaches practical, science-backed strategies to boost your mental health and overall wellbeing through lifestyle changes. Guided by research from Clinical Psychologist Professor Julia Rucklidge, the course targets professionals and general learners seeking to improve personal wellbeing using evidence-based frameworks, from mindfulness and nutrition to exercise and creative activities. Flexible scheduling allows you to study at your own pace during the course timeframe.

Course Content

  • Introduction to wellbeing and the role of lifestyle
  • Social connections and social media
  • Being present (mindfulness practices)
  • Physical interventions: exercise, sleep, cold and heat therapy
  • Enhancing wellbeing: music, arts, pet ownership
  • Nature and environments: influence of green/blue/urban spaces
  • Biological and sociological factors in maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • Developing strategies for personal and others' wellbeing

What you need to know first

If under 20: University Entrance or equivalent

If 20 or older: 20+ entry (must be NZ or Australian citizen/resident, or citizen of Cook Islands, Tokelau, or Niue; and 20 years or older by course start)

Confidence in English (listening, reading, writing)

Laptop/desktop computer and reliable internet connection
