What You're Signing Up For
The Master of Midwifery at Otago Polytechnic is an intensive, internationally recognised postgraduate programme designed for practising registered midwives seeking to develop advanced skills through independent research and scholarship. Building on knowledge from a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery, students study online, supported by two research supervisors, with opportunities to attend virtual Thesis Schools. The programme culminates in a thesis or dissertation and deepens analytical, evaluative, and research expertise relevant to professional midwifery practice.

- Midwifery Thesis (120 credits) or alternative research output
- Midwifery Dissertation (60 credits, if applicable)
- Attendance at two online Thesis Schools per year
- Critical analysis and evaluation in midwifery research

Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery with a B grade average or equivalent
Portfolio demonstrating academic and personal skills for direct entry to 180-credit Master's (may include 60 credits postgraduate study, prior research projects, publications, or a comprehensive research proposal)
