The Master of Health Science at AUT is designed for graduates from a variety of health backgrounds seeking to advance their scholarly and professional knowledge in health science. The programme provides an interprofessional and collegial environment to develop advanced research and professional skills through a flexible structure, allowing specialisation in areas including psychology, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational health, and more. The programme includes intensive coursework, advanced practice development, a research thesis or dissertation, and the option to customise learning towards specific career or research interests in health.

What you need to know first

Bachelor of Health Science with a B grade average or higher, or equivalent

Graduate Diploma in Health Science with a B grade average or higher, or equivalent

Staircasing options from AUT Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Health Science

Evidence of acceptable undergraduate research course (or equivalent)

May be required to provide evidence of current professional practice

Interview may be required

May need to meet requirements of relevant professional legislation (e.g., HPCA Act, Children's Act 2014)

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with no band less than 6.0 for international students

For Psychology specialisation: suitability for programme, interviews, references, and police vetting
