Perform advanced technical tasks in arboriculture
Carry out maintenance and management activities in arboriculture, including advanced tree climbing, pruning, felling, and dismantling.

Conduct visual tree assessments

Understand and use knowledge of tree biology for effective tree health diagnostics and care.
What You're Signing Up For
This Level 4 certificate programme builds on basic horticultural training to develop advanced technical skills in arboriculture. Students will learn about tree assessment, maintenance, biology, advanced climbing, felling, and supervision. Work experience and projects with councils and the wider community are included, preparing graduates for employment or advancement in the arboriculture industry.

What you need to know first
New Zealand Certificate in Horticulture Level 3 (Arboriculture strand) or equivalent qualification
Completion of specified arboriculture unit standards for practical components: 6400, 6401, 6402, 1668, 2768, 2767, 6916, 6917, and 20574
Candidates without formal qualifications may be considered via a discretionary/proven experience pathway, which may include interview, skills assessment, references, or evidence of prior work or study relevant to the sector.
